THE Christmas in Crediton Sub-Committee of Crediton Town Council has been working hard to bring you Santa’s Superheroes as the theme for the Christmas in Crediton event this year.

After reverting to a Virtual Switch-On last year, the planning of this year has been tricky.

Lisa Blake, Crediton Town Council’s Projects Officer, explained: “While the virus is still present keeping our community safe will always be the priority.

“We are hopeful to be able to bring our usual festivities back again this year to the town and we cannot wait.”

The event will take place on Saturday, November 27, with entertainment in the Town Square starting from 1pm to get everyone in the festive spirit.

There will be food and drink on and around the square and plenty of singing and of course optional dancing!

The ever popular Land Train will be back again this year for rides around the town from 2pm.

Santa’s Superhero fancy dress competition will take place at Crediton Methodist Church at 4pm.

Children are invited to get their thinking caps on to design a costume of their very own superhero, design a cape or mask and dust off their superhero powers to showcase their creativity.

The parade will assemble at the top of Market Street and finish in the Town Square ready for Father Christmas to turn on the twinkling lights in the town at 5pm.

The entertainment will continue from some fantastic local musicians and singers until 6pm.

The evening will also include the launching of the Christmas in Crediton children’s Superhero Hunt competition.

This will run until December 22.

A specially designed superhero logo will be hidden in various places around the High Street, there will also be a few surprise ones that pop up.

Those taking part will simply need to write down where you spot the numbered logo on the answer sheet (available on the Christmas in Crediton facebook page or from the Crediton Courier and the Crediton Town Council offices) and hand in your answer sheet in at the Town Council office.

There will be prizes for those who find the most logos.

The Christmas in Crediton committee arranges the town cross-street decorations, Christmas trees on the front of shops and businesses and the tree and illuminations in the Town Square. The committee also arranges the illuminations at the St Lawrence Green.

Lisa added: “As ever, none of this is possible without the hard work and dedication of our Committee members, the generosity of our sponsors and our fantastic community volunteers.”

She added: “We look forward to seeing you there!”
