Dumpy bags would be left in a suitable location every two months, a few days before the
Crediton collection day.
They would then be picked up on the Saturday morning of collection by the recycling company in their van.
The Dumpy bags would need to left in a convenient location and would need someone to check them regularly over the few days they were out to make sure everything was in order.
A couple of members of Sustainable Crediton live in Sandford and said they would be able to "make sure everything was in order".
The clerk was asked to write to Sandford Parish Hall committee to ask if it would agree to the Dumpy bags being deposited in the Parish Hall Car Park.
Mid Devon District Council were not happy with one of the Parish Jubilee Trees being planted in the New Buildings play area.
Cllr Alan McCreadie had identified a new location for the tree, on the verge at the entrance to New Buildings from Sandford and the landowner had been approached and had granted permission.
FANNY'S LANE
Further discussion took place over road safety issues for children exiting the Sandford School in Fanny's Lane. The chairman and clerk had visited the location one afternoon at the time the school was ending to view children exiting along Fanny's Lane.
They had found that the children were able to exit the back gate and were able to walk along the new pavement. However it was noted that once they got to the end of the pavement, against the hedge across from the Parish Hall, problems arose with not being able to view any traffic coming down Fanny's Lane from the Parish Hall direction.
It was felt imperative that at least the suggested "build out" of the pavement as part of the Road Safety Scheme needed to be implemented as a matter of urgency.
The question also arose as to why the developers, when building the two new homes, had not been asked to address and finance this need.
It was resolved that the Parish Council would write and request sight of the Safety Audit that would have been prepared by DCC Highways at the time the planning application was submitted.
This document should show what road safety issues had been identified.
REVEL PROFIT
It was reported that Sandford Revel had made £100 from the dog show and a donation had been received of £20.
It was agreed to divide up the proceeds and donate £30 each to Sandford Scouts, the Playgroup, Congregational Church and Sandford AFC.
POND CORNER
It was reported that another car had gone over the bank at Pond Corner, on the Millennium Green Side, this time on September 18.
The clerk had reported this to DCC Highways which replied that it had placed an order for a barrier.
Discussion took place over ongoing problems in this area.
It was felt the "ponding" of water near the Blue Door was an issue, as were the over hanging trees.
Various suggestions were discussed, including white lines and pruning the surrounding trees to provide better visibility.
It was agreed that the best option was for the bank to be built up.
DOGS
The Mid Devon District Council Dog Warden had been to New Buildings and new dog signs were being erected.
It was reported that there were 38 dogs in New Buildings with only 36 houses.
He is also to be asked to visit Furlong Footpath, below Park House, which has seen an increase in "dog fouling".
Despite the loss of the MDDC "Cemetery Grant" the Parish Council agreed to make Churchyard maintenance donations of St Swithuns PCC - £305 - and Sandford Congregational Church - £139.
The next meeting of Sandford Parish Council will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, November 7 at Sandford Congregational Church Hall.
