SANDFORD Playgroup would like to say a huge thank you to all the families and local organisations who made a scarecrow for this year’s Sandford Scarecrow Trail which proved to be the most successful so far!

There were 44 in total, with lots of fun characters being created. The playgroup appreciates all the support, without which there would be no trail.

On behalf of Sandford Playgroup, Jacky Theedom, said: “It has been lovely to see so many families visiting Sandford during the summer holidays and enjoying the Scarecrow Trail, so we would also like to say a big thank you to them for supporting the event. They have helped raise an amazing £839 for the playgroup!

“Last but not least, we would like to thank the staff of Sandford Community Stores for selling the trail forms and generally helping and supporting us in our efforts for the Scarecrow Trail.”

Congratulations go to Square Egg Drama, whose scarecrow the “Cat in the Hat” was voted to be the favourite, followed closely by the BFG and the Stick Man and his Family.

The winners of the draw, naming all the scarecrows correctly, were: 1 Zoe Spearman, 2 Jack Cummings, 3 Evie Saunders and cousins.

Jacky added: “If you have any feedback that you would like to share with us, or any ideas or suggestions on how you think we could improve the scarecrow trail we’d love to hear from you.

“What theme shall we have next year I wonder?”
