SANDFORD Playgroup is delighted to be judged “Good in all areas”, following a recent Ofsted inspection.
The playgroup says it is an excellent result and reflects the hard work and dedication of the play leader, her staff, and administrator who manage the playgroup on a day-by-day basis to provide young children with a happy, structured environment.
Highlights from the Ofsted inspectors report include: “Children are well behaved and happy, with good self-esteem. Staff are good role models and show children they are valued, teaching them to show respect and care for others”, “Children make good progress. Staff use their observations well to plan for future learning”, “Staff have good relationships with parents. They tell them daily about their children’s activities and what they enjoyed. Parents receive regular reports so they can see their children’s progress” and “Good self-evaluation helps the management committee and manager identify and prioritise areas for improvement”.
Sandford and District Playgroup was opened in 1971 and is run by a volunteer committee. It operates from Sandford Parish hall and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 4pm, providing early education for two, three and four year-olds.
The playgroup has strong links with Sandford School, with the children visiting for lunch each day and sharing in outdoor learning sessions with the reception class.
The Head Teacher and Governors of the school are extremely supportive of the playgroup, and the close connections are instrumental in ensuring that the playgroup children make a smooth, stress-free transition to school.
