THE countdown continues to the Sandford King Charles III Coronation Celebrations.

Friday evening (May 5) will see the Otter Morris Dancers perform in the Square outside the Lamb Inn.

Saturday, May 6 - Coronation Day

11am - Live screening of the Coronation Service at The Lamb Inn.

In the afternoon parishioners will be carrying out their own celebrations and street parties.

In the evening there is a choice between two events depending on your taste in music.

7pm - Dance at Sandford Parish Hall to Skarper - (Entry fee £10 on the door, licensed bar).

8pm - Spin 2 (live band) at the Lamb Inn - (tickets £8 in advance, £10 on the night).

Sunday, May 7

9.30am - Coronation Service at St Swithun’s

This will be followed by the planting of the Coronation cherry tree at the entrance to “Creedy View “, to join the 2023 Platinum Jubilee cherry tree. 

Afterwards a glass of “fizz” in Sandford Parish Hall.

Monday, May 8

Sandford Afternoon

1pm - Boundary Walk and Beating the Bounds (Part 1)

Route Parish Hall, Pedlarspool, finish at Beacon Church for the New Buildings Coronation Tea Party and cutting of the Coronation Cake at Beacon Church with musical entertainment from 4pm. 

Donations of cakes and tray bakes would be very welcome and can be left at Beacon Church on the day, or at the Parish Hall for those walking.

During the planning for this event a Boundary stone was found in the stream on the Boundary with Kennerleigh by Derek Conibear.

Recently a mile stone was found at Preston, New Buildings by Erin Nicol (aged 8).

In addition, four new boundary stones are to be replaced around the parish, made locally by Ben Huggins.

Boundary Walk and Beating the Bounds (Part 2) - Later in the Summer

All those doing part or all of Part 1 or Part 2 of the Walk will be given a Certificate.

Children at Sandford School will be given packets of wildflower seeds for planting.

Sandford Coronation Mugs (made locally in East Village) will be on sale in Sandford Stores.

Sandford Parish Council thanks Sandford Scouts who, in the pouring rain, recently carried out a Village Litter Pick ahead of the celebrations.
