TWO members of the public were present at the April meeting of Sandford Parish Council.
They raised issues over the proposed development at “Creedy Bridge” (Pedlarspool) and in particular the presentations made at the Crediton Town Council policy and forward planning meeting on April 5.
Parish Council chairman Shuana Waller advised that she had attended this meeting. She also confirmed that the Parish Council was aware of the proposals and were in the process of having a similar presentation in Sandford to include Gleesons, the developers, and Simon Trafford, Mid Devon District Council planning officer.
VANDALISM
The clerk read an entry in the Parish Comment Book from Sandford Tennis Club giving details of vandalism at the Tennis Court.
It was reported that someone had deliberately cut the “heavy duty straining wire”, at the top of the fence at the Meadowside Road end, and broken down the fence causing damage to the mesh. Sandford Tennis Club had reported the matter to the Police.
TRAFFIC
The clerk gave details of an email from a parishioner pressing for an early conclusion to the New Buildings traffic issues and the outcome of the SCARF (Speed Compliance Action Review Forum) meeting.
In the email Devon County Council Highways had been advised that if a satisfactory response was not received the matter would be taken up with Mel Stride MP.
The Parish Council endorsed this action and the clerk was asked to write to Steve Tucker (DCC Highways), and County Councillor Mrs Margaret Squires, supporting the parishioner’s action stating that if a satisfactory reply was not received within seven days, they would contact Mel Stride MP.
The updated Sandford Parish Council Standing Orders were formally adopted by the Parish Council and a vote of thanks was proposed to Cllr Alan McCreadie for the work he had carried out in the process of updating them.
Tania Weeks (DCC Public Right of Way) advised that she was in the process of contacting the Gorwyn Trustees, and MDDC, to discuss the proposed footpath from Creedy View to Snows.
Sandford Congregational Church had sent a letter of thanks for their donation, for the use of the hall, and this had been spent on new chairs.
The next meeting will take place on May 12 beginning at 7.30pm at Sandford Congregational Church Hall.
