THERE was a wonderful feeling of community and celebration when Sandford came together to mark 25 years of Sandford Millennium Green and Path.

A parade was led by Exeter Street Band, which included representatives from village groups and individuals.

On arrival at the Green there were speeches of thanks to the volunteers who established the Green and Path by Green chair Charlie Werner, custodian Steve McCullough and Secretary Penny Somerville.

Penny presented Green benefactor and one of the founders, who is emigrating soon, Linda Lever, with a stained glass memento.

The event also saw the reading of a specially-written Community Poem by local poet Ysella Sims, which was devised at a creative writing workshop.

The day also included a picnic, music and games in the delightful green.
