CREDITON Arts Centre opens its new season of East Street Acoustic this Friday, October 30, with the wonderful singer-songwriter Sam Hill Junior.
Now based in Cornwall, Sam hails originally from Scotland where, as the son of a lay preacher and musician, he acquired his love of blues, gospel and country from his father.
Sam has played live throughout the UK, including the Borderline in London and Edinburgh Festival, as well as Europe, USA and the former Soviet Republic of Georgia.
He has been recording for more than 20 years and his latest album Cowboys and Moonbeams has been gathering superb reviews in the music press.
Fragile Tent describe Sam Hill Jr. as “one of the most talented musicians and songwriters I have ever heard”, while Soul Surmise declare that his music “whispers into all of our souls. The work is excellent, the songs are tender and gentle in sound and content”.
Support will be from local trio “Claibekas”, with their fusion of delta blues, klezmer and world music.
The evening, at Crediton Arts Centre in East Street, will begin at 7.30pm.
Tickets priced at £7, (£5 concessions), will be available on the door or can be reserved by telephoning 01363 773260.
