NETWORK Rail will be carrying out works at Salmon Pool Level Crossing, near Crediton from 10pm, today, Friday, March 15, until 7am on Monday, March 25.

It says that the existing level crossing has reached the end of its design life and needs to be replaced for the safety of the trains and level crossing users.

A spokesperson told the “Courier”: “We will be working continuously day and night, but please be aware pre-preparation work is to be carried out beforehand which also requires 24-hour working.

“A full 10-day closure of the crossing will be in place, a traffic marshal will be present, so that pedestrians can continue to use the level crossing.

“The work will involve installing new road traffic lights, new signage, cabinets, and level crossing barriers.

“Train services will continue to run as normal between the hours of 7am and 10pm.

“We are going to be using a low-noise generator, so we can carry out the work safely. The work may be noisy, we are aware that we are working close to homes and we apologise in advance if we do disturb anyone.

“We are working with train operators to bring you more reliable, faster better rail services.

“We hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional questions or concerns about the work taking place, please call our dedicated 24-hour National Helpline on: 03457 11 41 41 or visit: www.networkrail.co.uk/contactus .”
