TOMORROW, Saturday, November 30, a full peal of 5,000+ changes will be attempted on the church bells at Holy Cross, Crediton.

The band will be drawn from the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths.

This London-based society, founded in 1747, regularly competes in the National 12-bell Competition having won it three times and come second four times including in the final held here in Crediton in 2010.

Among the ringers will be Jenny Sparling, daughter of Crediton Tower Captain Geoff Sparling.

Jenny’s partner Ian Fielding organised the peal attempt and together they frequently support Crediton ringing and Devon competition ringing.

The peal is due to start at 10am and will take three-and-a-half hours to complete.
