THE story entitled "Amended plan for 65 homes on cards for Higher Road Crediton" appeared in the Courier on Friday, May 25 issue 1191.

An amended plan for 65 homes for an area off Higher Road, Crediton, Crediton, in Sandford parish, has been submitted to Mid Devon District Council (MDDC).

The previous application, which was turned down by MDDC was for 75 homes.

Neal Jillings, of Place Land LLP developers, wrote to Crediton Town Council, Sandford Parish Council and MDDC prior to the submission to inform them of the revised application and he attended recent town and parish council meetings.

The proposed site is a narrow strip of land running along Higher Road and is outside the MDDC’s housing settlement boundary.

The developers say that the roads will function as they are and there is no proposal to increase the usage of Alexandra Road.

Higher Road would be diverted around the new homes joining itself at the junction with Alexandra Road which would be widened there and be the primary alignment.

What do you think about the idea of the proposal to divert the road through the housing development and how do you think Alexandra Road will be affected?

What you told us ……….

They are building too many houses in the Crediton area - the infrastructure can’t cope. The doctors and schools are already struggling. There will also be much more pollution in the town.

I think the new homes won’t be affordable. What will they do about our infrastructure? They seem to be just closing all our amenities like the council offices and the police station and just building more and more houses.

I’ve heard that the entrance to the new housing at Cromwells Meadow will be through Willow Walk - It’s crazy!

Where’s the infrastructure to cope with all these extra houses - The doctors, schools and traffic? It’s building for building sake. Crediton is bursting at the seams. It’s about time the planners came to their senses.

I’m fed up with them building more and more houses. I live in Exeter Road and I have noticed a lot more traffic and pollution. They were supposed to put in safety measures - there are a lot of small children. It’s too late when someone gets run over. Even the delivery drivers say that the road is more dangerous than ever because there is so much traffic.
