COLDRIDGE Fete, Vintage Rally and Flower Festival 2018 promises to be an exciting and enjoyable day for everyone.

The action-packed event is held every other year in The Church Field, adjoining Coldridge Village Hall and St Matthew’s Church (by kind permission of the Keast family), and profits from the event go towards both the hall and church.

The church bells will ring from 11.30am to 12 noon, after which the fete will be declared open.

This year the honoured guest who will be performing this task will be Coldridge resident, Jeremy Lee, a retired solicitor with Symes, Robinson and Lee, (now Gilbert Stephens).

Past chairman of the fete committee and long-standing supporter of village activities and particularly the hall and St Matthew’s Church, Jeremy is looking forward to a lively and interesting day out.

MAIN RING

Main ring attractions throughout the day will include: 12.15pm - Gun Dog Training Display (as seen at The Royal Cornwall Show); 12.45pm Community Rock Choir; 1.10pm Taekwondo Exhibition (Crediton and Copplestone Taekwondo); 1.40pm Community Rock Choir (Part 2); 2pm Gun Dog Training Display; 2.30pm Parade of Eggesford Fox Hounds; 3pm Parade of Vintage Cars; 3.30pm Parade of Tractors; 4.30pm Parade of Family Dog Show Class Winners and Presentation of Show Class Winners Rosettes - Announcement of Grand Draw and Competition Winners.

ATTRACTIONS

Attractions will include a book stall, cake stall, plant stall, clay shy, donna machine, Guess the Age of the Donkeys, Guess the number of sweets, Guess the weight of the cake, ice creams, milking a cow, nearly new, old fashioned games, tombola, treasure hunt board and many more.

Judging of the Family Dog Show will take place throughout the afternoon in a separate ring - Entries on the day.

There will be dozens of tractors in the Vintage Rally and just as many vintage and classic cars.

There will be some lovely old stationary engines which were very popular on farms in the 1940’s and 50’s and some motorbikes too.

Everyone is invited to go along and talk to these enthusiastic owners and see their vehicles in action in the ring parades.

DISPLAYS AND STALLS

Displays and Exhibitor Stalls will include: Body Shop Products; Charity Sponsorship; Chulmleigh Academy Trust; Craft, Recycle, Upcycle; Crediton Lions Club; Donkeys; Driftwood Decorations and Jewellery; Colourflower Hand-made Crafts; Harris Tweed and Linen Gifts; Lacemaking Demonstration by Daphne Pottle; Metal Detecting Demonstration by East Devon Metal Detectorists; National Trust Outreach - Castle Drogo; Paintings; Pet Beds and Bags; Spreyton Pottery; Preserves and Pickles; Pyrography Demonstration; Railway Bees – Honey and Beeswax Craft Items; Riverford Farm; Scarves and Bags; Shields Buildings; Thatching Demonstration and Wood Art – Doggy Lampshade by Zak Wilson.

As well as the traditional Tea Tent there will be locally produced barbecue food and chips plus ice creams on sale.  Also a bar will be run by members of the Social Club.

FLOWER FESTIVAL

A fantastic Flower Festival featuring many displays will be on display in St Matthew’s Church.

The theme will be “Wildlife Around Us”.

Individuals and groups from the parish will create the displays.

There will also be a display of posies of remembrance for loved ones in the spaces of the rood screen in St Matthew’s Church.

The North Tawton Fire Brigade will be present with their Fire Engine on the Village Green.

Crediton Air Cadets will be attending to assist at the event.

There will be plenty of parking on the field and admission is reasonably priced for all the family.

Secretary, Marilyn Daw, said there will be a myriad of activities to enjoy at Coldridge Fete, Vintage Rally and Flower Festival.
