A SOUTH African grocery store is seeking an alcohol licence for its new premises in Crediton.

The Lekker Saffa is currently located at 103 High Street but is soon moving to Unit B, Parliament Square, Parliament Street, off Crediton Town Square, which was occupied by Fly Fishing Tackle Co UK until October 5.

Tonya Marye Lord has applied for a licence for the new shop to supply alcoholic drinks to be consumed on and off the premises between 9.30am and 7pm seven days a week.

The application is for the same hours as the current premises on the High Street.

A family-run business with a “moerse heart”, the shop sells South African products such as spices, fizzy drinks, biltong (dried meat), crisps, traditional cakes and sweets, and wine, cider and beer.

You can see the application on the council’s website under reference 032164.
