A CHARITY fundraiser from Crediton has been thanked for her fundraising efforts for the British Red Cross.

Mandy Rowe (46) was presented with a framed certificate of thanks by Dot Matthews MBE, Chairman, Devon Volunteers Council, British Red Cross, at a reception held at the British Red Cross Centre, Bradley House, Apple Lane, Sowton, Exeter.

Mandy explained: "I have been involved with the British Red Cross for 23 years.

"I wanted to become a first aider at the playgroup I was helping with and decided to take a course with the British Red Cross at its centre at Fordton in Crediton.

"After I took the course I decided to join the Red Cross and this lead to going out on duties.

"My work now is mostly fundraising as there is no longer the Centre at Crediton and no longer an active group."

Each year, Mandy raises hundreds of pounds for eight different charities with which she is involved.

Dot Matthews explained that Mandy raises between £500 and £600 each year for the charity.
