THE 110th Okehampton and District Agricultural Show was blessed with sunny weather and record crowds in a week that saw rain most days.

Held in the foothills of Dartmoor on the Stoney Park show ground, all those attending enjoyed a fantastic day out where they could watch livestock competitions, a full main ring programme of entertainment, or just visit the wealth of trade and exhibitor stands.

There was show jumping, sheep shearing, crafts and produce, ferret racing, sheepdog displays, a hound parade, vintage vehicles, carriage driving, terrier racing, dog show, morris dancing, heavy horses and side saddle classes.

The food and drink hall marquee was busy, as were other marquees for the honey show, YFC classes, open classes, crafts and entertainment.

Livestock took centre stage and local exhibitors fared particularly well.

Paul Quick of E W Quick and Sons of Zeal Monachorum won the Best of Three sheep class and also went on to win the Overall Supreme championship with a Texel shearling ewe.

Show secretary Sally Bullingham, said she was “delighted” with the numbers of people who attended the one-day show, adding that the good weather for the show day had been predicted leading to people taking advantage of the fine weather.

Livestock entries recorded a record high.
