ALTHOUGH entries were somewhat lower than usual at the Lapford and District Horticultural Association’s Spring Show, the quality of the exhibits were of good-quality said the judges, who were Angela Searle (Cookery and Crafts); Mary Tasker (Floral Art) and Bert Jewell (Flowers/ Vegetables and photography).

Top winners were: Photographs (Spring Landscape) - l Bill Graham, 2 Rebecca Holley, 3 Joan Graham. (People) - 1 and 2 Jeanne Whittaker, 3 Rebecca Holley.

Crafts: Rebecca Holley, Sue Briant-Evans and Trisha Mumford; Homecraft: Rowan Peto, Trisha Mumford, James Mumford, Edna Copus and Sue Briant-Evans; Floral Art: Ruth Hodge and Joan Graham.

Vegetables: Edna Copus, Sue Briant-Evans, Joyce Mann, Eileen Ridd, Noel Parry and Eileen Ridd.

Daffodils: Eileen Ridd, Sue Briant-Evans, Noel Parry and Joan Graham. Other flowers and

pot plants: Edna Copus, Noel Parry, Joan Graham, Sue Braint-Evans and Joyce Mann. Hens Eggs: Sue Briant-Evans.

There were 95 entries in total and the Joan Henderson Memorial Cup, given by Joan Henderson’s daughter, Mary, for most points in the show, was won by Sue Briant-Evans, runner-up was Joan Graham, with Eileen Ridd in third place.

It was a most enjoyable show, which ended with a grand draw.

Chairman Sue Briant-Evans thanked everyone for attending and exhibiting and said it would be great if more villagers entered their next show in July.
