STUDENTS from Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton have enjoyed taking part in a Classics taster session at the University of Exeter.
The group compared ancient and modern coins, traced the roots of today’s English words back to Latin and Ancient Greek, and had fun looking at examples of ancient graffiti (political, rude and otherwise) discovered in Pompeii.
“It was a brilliant afternoon of learning, curiosity, and connecting the past to the present,” said a QE spokesperson.
“Thank you to the Exeter University team and Classics for All for making it so engaging.”
The University of Exeter offers a variety of Classics-related undergraduate and postgraduate courses, which can be combined with many other fields.
Classics for All is a charity that promotes the study of Classics in state schools.
