QUEEN Elizabeth’s School in Crediton entered four teams into the Ten Tors Challenge event, two 35-mile, one 45-mile and one 55-mile.

Jenni Baker, QE Ten Tors manager, explained: “After completing their training where they experienced typical Dartmoor weather of snow, ice, rain, wind, fog and sunshine, the teams were well prepared.

“The sun was shining on the Saturday morning and at the start line they enjoyed a parachute display before the guest speaker, Ray Mears, said a few inspiring words and started the event at 7am.

“Our teams set off on their routes and maintained a good pace all weekend, all finishing on Sunday afternoon.
“The Queen Elizabeth’s 55-mile team have completed all three distances so they were able to proudly show off their trio of medals.”

Jenni added that Keith Baker (QE Chair of Governors) also received an award for 10 years’ voluntary service to Ten Tors.
