SKIPPING at Sandford School is reaching new heights of enthusiasm and skill!

On March 7 the school invited Skipping Workshops to work with the whole school teaching different skipping skills to every class.

The day culminated in a demonstration of various skipping skills and games for the whole school and parents too.

Children commented: “I had great fun at the workshop. We were taught to do double dutch which is jumping two ropes at a time. I can’t do it very well yet but I’m using lunch times to practise.”

“I learnt how to do cross-overs for the first time.”

“I thought I couldn’t skip but now I can!”

This was very well timed to prepare the school to take part in National Skipping Day on March 22.

Alison Littlejohn Sports Leader at Sandford School said: “As a school we achieved 52,131 skips to contribute to the national total. Skipping is popular in our active playtimes and a fun way for children to increase health and fitness.

“We are really proud of the sporting ethos that exists in our school and have a strong record of sporting success and broad experiences for our children. We were awarded the Silver School Games Mark Award for 2016/17 and 2017/18 and this year we aim to achieve the Gold Award.

“We endeavour to provide all our children with a Physical Education that will lead them to active lifestyles in the future.”
