THE six-week and 90 events Crediton Festival in July 2013, which was staged by 34 local groups was a resounding success. Plans are now being made for the 2015 Crediton Festival, which will run from Saturday, June 13 to Saturday, July 11, and will include five weekends over the four weeks. Next year it is hoped that even more people will take part and that the scope of activities reaches out even further into sports, schools, dance, writing and reading groups, gardening, hobby clubs, recycling and campaign groups, as well as live music, theatre, crafts and visual arts. To begin planning events, a meeting of representatives from town groups, all the previous festival event producers and producers of new events are invited to attend a public meeting. This will take place at the Council Chamber, Market Street, Crediton, from 7pm to 9pm on Wednesday, July 23. If you would like to take part, if you have got a good idea (pretty much the sky's the limit) and you know how to bring it to life, the festival steering group, Crediton Town Team, would love to meet you and offer their help. Initially plans are in the early stage and the focus is on proposals, with, later in the year, detailed planning and production tasks, budgeting, publicity and venue arrangements taking priority.
