BARRATT Homes is in the very early stages of working on an outline planning application for up to 120 homes near Chapel Downs Farm, adjoining Queen Elizabeth Drive, on the outskirts of Crediton.

The housing developer, which has acquired an interest in the site, says the application will consider the principle of development and a further application will be required to determine what the layout and buildings should look like.

The company issued a statement today, Friday, February 17 and said: “Barratt Homes is aware of the sensitive nature of the site and the strength of local residents’ feelings.

“The housebuilder is keen to get residents involved and as a result will be carrying out a thorough public engagement exercise.”

The company will hold a Public Exhibition from 3pm to 7pm, on Thursday, February 23, at Crediton Methodist Church Hall, Union Road, Crediton, EX17 3AW.

Barrett Homes adds that further details on the plans will be available at the event and members of the project team will be on-hand to answer any questions.
