NOT just Cheriton Fitzpaine Garden Club but other village charities and groups raised funds at the plant sale held by the Garden Club at the Parish Hall on Saturday, May 20.

The morning raised about £800 altogether, £200 for the Garden Club.  Its chairman, Andrew Dean, said the funds would help pay for events.

Bacon rolls were sold in aid of the Parish Hall and another of the other organisations was represented by Claire Borlase, the local Patient Participation Group representative who lives in Cheriton and liaises between Cheriton surgery and the community.

Two heart monitors have been bought for Mid Devon Medical Trust which covers Cheriton, Morchard Bishop and Witheridge, now raising funds for a machine that helps in the diagnosis and management of asthma for the three surgeries.

Claire said these were about £1,000 each.

“That means a few cake sales and probably something else for fundraising,” she commented.  She had a very good cake stall at the Parish Hall that morning.

The Garden Club show is on Saturday, August 5.
