FROM mini Christmas cakes to pretty wreaths, knitted ear warmers or snoods, lavender bags to scented padded coat hangers, there was a good choice of gift ideas at the Christmas Fair held in Hittisleigh Parish Hall on the afternoon of Saturday, November 24.
The Fair was a success and raised £750 for church funds.
It was opened by Shirley Partridge, Church Warden Emeritus. Shirley said the Fair was at least 50-years-old having begun as a sale of work on the day nearest St Andrew’s Day. The parish church is dedicated to St Andrew.
The mini Christmas cakes had been made by members of the Ladies Group at one meeting, iced and decorated at the next. They had found specially small cake tins having previously used the small size baked bean tins.
Many other items had been made by Crayford Crafters who meet once a month and began making things for Christmas way back in the summer.
There were fat snacks for the birds, cards, jams, chutneys, preserves, Don Nicholson’s paintings on slate and names were taken for the 2019 Hittisleigh calendar of local views.
The Name the Snowman competition was popular, mince pies and tea or coffee keeping people fed and watered.
