THE Devon Air Ambulance Trust has received a cheque for £650, which was raised at a laser clay pigeon shoot.

The event was organised by members of Crediton Boniface Rotary Club and hosted by Newton St Cyres Golf Course.

Arranged by past-president Rotarian David Taylor, 14 teams of five people took part in this year's annual event.

Three trophies were played for, best clay pigeon shooting team, best golf chipping team and a trophy for the team with the best overall performance.

The laser shooting trophy was won by a team led by Rotarian Paul Radnor, who called themselves The Misfits.

The golf chipping trophy was won by a team from the New Inn, Coleford. The best overall performance trophy was won by the Misfits team.

The weather stayed fair for the whole event, which was attended by more than 85 people.

All the money raised went to the Devon Air Ambulance Trust, a charity chosen by Mark Westaway from Newton St Cyres Golf Course.

Afterwards, there was an impromptu "nearest the pin" golf course competition, organised by Gareth Evans and Phoebe Westwood. It was won by John Horseman, who also donated his £45 winnings to the same charity.

The Crediton Boniface Rotary Club thanked all who helped to make the laser clay pigeon shoot a success.

The cheque was accepted, with grateful thanks, on behalf of DAAT, by local fundraising co-ordinator, George Palin.
