A CHARITY Bake Off and Fun Day was held in the perfect setting of Coldridge Barton, Coldridge on Saturday, August 6, in aid of the charity, Mind in Exeter and East Devon.

There was lovely weather for the afternoon when visitors were kept entertained by lots of side stalls.

Many people enjoyed going back time-and-time again, trying to win elusive prizes or complete "play your cards right!"

Debbie Keast, who organised the event with her husband David, said the highlight was the lovely array of different bakes which were judged by Francesca Raymont, Michelle Perry and Angela Pittman.

She said that the overall winner was Amy Keast who designed a cool ice-cream cake in which she had cleverly put in hidden surprises only found out about when tasting.

Debbie said: "This was made extra special as she was celebrating her ninth birthday and very pleased with her trophies and £30 Amazon voucher.

"We thank everyone who took time and effort to bring a bake on the day which everyone enjoyed afterwards, to the local businesses that supported us through donations we thank Tesco, Morrisons, Mole Avon, Candimama, Olivia James, Crediton Card Centre, Adams Home Hardware and Hedgerow Print."

Debbie added thanks to the many individuals who donated as well and "to those who put in so much effort to make the event a success."

She said the money raised on the day was £634.93 which she described as "a fantastic amount".

Debbie said: "Mind will be able to use that money to help people going through Mental Health Problems through workshops, support groups or just getting them back on their feet again.

"Rose Jordan and Lea Knobbe from Mind say a huge ’thank you’ and myself and Anne Hughes (Ambassadors for the Charity) want to say how much we appreciate the support shown from the community.

"Please note we have plans to do more in the coming months."
