A RECENT Coffee Morning with stalls, held at Newton St Cyres Parish Hall, was a great success and raised £321 for the Friends of Newton Arboretum.
The arboretum is situated beside the church and has some unique and beautiful trees. It also includes picnic tables, a daffodil valley and the badgers way - all details of which are included in an Information Trail leaflet.
There is also plenty of wildlife and a number of birds, plus there is also a wheelchair route.
Secretary Roger Wilkins thanked everyone for supporting the coffee morning and added that the upkeep of the arboretum costs around £2,000 per year.
It has been open to the public for the past six years. The Friends’ next fundraising event will be a bingo in the Parish Hall on Monday, February 26, eyes down at 7.45pm.
