GLORIOUS sunshine was the order of the day for The Blue Cross Dog Show and Fun Day at Shobrooke Park. The show attracted more than 1,000 human and canine visitors and raised over £2,100 for the animal adoption centre at Bickleigh, near Cheriton Fitzpaine.
Standards were high and competition was fierce in the dog show, which saw dogs competing in classes which included "waggiest tale" and "most handsome dog".
Members of the Tiverton and District Canine Society put on a fantastic agility display, while other dogs had a chance to try out their agility skills on the "scurry run".
Elsewhere, a local musician entertained the crowds with live music, while children enjoyed facepainting and a puppet show with wonderful home-made puppets by Crediton Community Church.
Delicious refreshments including home-made cakes were available all day, as well as a wide variety of stalls to browse, selling everything from books and bric-a-brac to jewellery.
Sally Dawes, volunteer coordinator for The Blue Cross said: "The weather was perfect and everyone had a brilliant time. The dog show alone raised £450 and there were more than 70 entrants in some of the classes!
"All the money raised on the day will go towards caring for the homeless and unwanted animals at The Blue Cross centre and we would like to thank all the visitors to the show for their generous support."
The Blue Cross receives no government funding and relies on the support of the public to continue its vital work. For more information, please visit: http://www.bluecross.org.uk">www.bluecross.org.uk .
