A CORONATION Dog Show was held at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1.

The show was sponsored by St Boniface Vets of Crediton and two judges, Tilly and Belinda, came along from the practice.

Classes included: Best King - Regal Fella; Best Queen – Regal Bitch; Best Heirs to Throne - Puppy up to one year; Golden Oldie – Most Noble over 10 years; Duke/Duchess – Best Paw Shaker; Best Jester - Trick/Talent; Best Prince/Princess - Child Handler; Orb and Sceptre -  Egg and Spoon (dog on lead)/Adults and Orb and Sceptre – Egg and Spoon (dog on lead)/Children.

Mandy Smith, one of the organisers, said: “It was a well attended event and was enjoyed by our competitors.

“We had some very encouraging comments and were able to raise £164 for the Dogs Trust Charity.

“The Dog Egg and Spoon was a great fun hit for the adults and children, with lots of laughs!

“The sun shone on us all, which made the event all the more enjoyable.

“My co-organiser of this event and I will be visiting the Dogs Trust in Ilfracombe later this month for a cheque presentation.”
