WORK on the first phase of a £120,000 project to upgrade lighting and re-wire all the electrics at Crediton Parish Church will begin next week – just 10 months after fundraising began.
Fundraising has been achieved at a staggeringly impressive rate and to date just over £104,000 has been raised, made up of £78,500 in donations, grants £13,250 (All Church Trust Ltd, Devon Historic Church Trust, Garfield Weston Foundation and the Pennon Environmental Fund) and other fund raising £12,250.
Crediton Parish Church was delighted to receive confirmation of a £20,000 donation from a generous benefactor just days after the Courier published its first story about the appeal.
This month the work will begin to install new cables into the church, put the new distribution boards in place and re-light the main body of the church. This first phase of the whole project will cost approximately £85,000.
