OPPOSITION to the plan for 257 homes in Sandford parish, on the outskirts of Crediton at Libbets Grange (Creedy Bridge/Pedlarspool) still exists.

Today, Sunday, June 12, a handwritten sign has appeared on the Bellway Homes notice about the forthcoming homes, which says “Greedy Bellway Use Gas, no affordable heating, Creedy Valley Floods, no to fossil fuels”.

The application by Bellway Homes includes provision for Crediton Rugby Club, as well as space for a new primary school and a travellers site.

One local resident, Gerald Conyngham, of Crediton, saw the poster this morning and told the Courier: “Cycling up from the Tiverton road, I saw the poster on the Bellway Homes notice which to me reflects the strong feelings that exist in Sandford parish about this new development and the way the houses are being designed, with the aim of maximising profits for Bellway Homes and ignoring issues about global warming.

“A wasted opportunity to make a real contribution to our need to cut carbon emissions, build sustainable homes and provide a much larger number of affordable homes for local people.”
