A CREDITON florist's shop has been thanked for organising a special Mothers' Day competition.

Susan Tucker of Susan's Florists, 131 High Street, Crediton, organised a competition in association with Hayward's Primary School, for children to design a flower with a message on it to celebrate Mothers' Day.

The children from years five and six made the flowers in brightly coloured paper and wrote the message which fitted into the centre of the flower.

The children were judged on the best flowers and messages.

Seven winners were selected, and their entries were displayed in the centre of Susan's florists window.

The winners were Tegan, Chelsi, Billy, Michael, Jade, Bethany and Charlie. At a school assembly, they each received a lovely pot plant for their mothers from Susan.

The runners-up had their entries displayed along the side window at the florists shop and all of the runners-up received a bunch of daffodils to present to their mums.

Susan told the children: "Your flowers were wonderful. Thank you very much for taking part. "People who have seen your entries in the window have said how good they are."

Susan was thanked by the school for her donations of flowers and for her help with the competition.

Susan Tucker opened Susan's Florists in Crediton in November 1990.
