LIKE me, I am sure that a lot of readers of the Crediton Courier were shocked by the graphic pictures from Africa during the excellent Comic Relief Red Nose Day programme on BBC1.  It was great to see where our money is going and how we are able to help give the "street children" hope and dignity with access to education. Even though at times things are not always perfect in this country at least our children do not have to scavenge on rubbish dumps for food, nor sleep on the streets with no-one to look after them. What price childhood in certain parts of our troubled world? That is why we must be thankful for the work of Foodbank's and Children's Centres who reach out to families going through difficult times until they can get back on their feet.  I do not think that we always appreciate just how fortunate we are not to have to try and live under a dictatorship, nor have to flee for our lives from oppressive regimes. I want to pay a personal tribute to local people who run our Foodbank and the staff at Crediton's Children's Centre who work tirelessly to make life better for the people of Crediton.
