A PLANNING application to put up a storage building on a 315 square metre site at Gunstone Yard near Crediton has brought local criticism with six letters of objection so far sent to Mid Devon District Council as well as four letters of general comments, all from people living close by.
Mr and Mrs Hawman of Crediton are the applicants. They say that at present the site is used as a storage yard.
The vehicle access would not be changed and although within 20 metres of a watercourse, it says the application will not increase flood risk elsewhere nor is it within an area at risk of flooding.
Surface water would be disposed of by soakaway.
It is the potential flooding aspect that is worrying local people as well as a possible increase of large vehicles.
Crediton Hamlets Parish Council has objected to the application saying more details were needed, that the applicant had said there were no hedges on the site but the drawings seemed to show otherwise, a number of water meters for local properties were on the site but no information as to how they would still be able to get to the meters.
The parish council asked for a site meeting if the planning officer was minded to approve the application.
