CENTRAL Devon MP Mel Stride visited Moor Training in Okehampton last week as part of National Apprenticeship Week.

The MP for Central Devon has long been an advocate of apprenticeships, having helped to significantly increase the number of young people embarking on apprenticeships while serving in the Business Department under David Cameron.

It was his second visit to the centre, having awarded course completion certificates to a class of apprentices in 2018.

Centre Manager Aimee Worrall said: “It was great to catch up with Mel and show him the new training facilities we have built since he last visited.

“Local demand is still going up, in part due to a new partnership with Ideal Heating, which is very encouraging for the future. Information about our upcoming courses can be found at: www.moortraining.co.uk.”

Mel added: “We are fortunate to have such an excellent training provider here on our doorstep in Okehampton.

“Apprenticeships will be a key part of our economic bounce back from the pandemic, ensuring that a generation of young people who have been disproportionately impacted during the last two years can gain the skills and qualifications they need to embark on successful careers.”
