IN response to John Daw’s letter ("Courier", April 7) regarding some positive ideas for the toilet block at St Lawrence Green - I think John makes more sense than all our councillors put together.

Every word of what John said is true and I know lots of people who feel the same.

Many elderly people like myself need those toilets at The Green and think they should be reopened. It is too far too walk to the next ones.

It was suggested by another councillor that I should just go into any shop and ask to use their toilets. I have tried this and was told that they are not for public use.

I think there is a lot of money spent on what I call luxuries, such as flowers and hanging baskets - toilets are a neccessity and the money would be better spend on them.

A lot of elderly people I know won’t speak up because they think it is pointless as our councillors don’t listen.

Many people need the toilets at The Green and it would be criminal to knock them down. I’m very upset over this and I’ve lost sleep over it.

I feel very disillusioned with our councillors.

When you are elderly you need the reasurrance that there are public toilets nearby.
