PLANNING permission in principle is being sought for six homes on the southwestern edge of Colebrooke.

Since Mr and Mrs Bialyk have only asked Mid Devon District Council to approve the development in principle, another application will be needed later before the houses are built to decide what they will look like and other particulars.

Planning documents argue that the homes would be close to the centre of the village, church and village hall.

They also say that the scheme should be approved as Mid Devon District Council cannot show the government it has at least five years’ worth of land for new homes.

The site currently houses three storage buildings. An illustrative layout put forward would have the six homes laid out in a horseshoe “farmstead” arrangement.
