PARTICULAR aspects of a Neighbourhood Plan that will influence future development in Silverton will be explored in greater detail during a public hearing which has been called by an independent examiner.

Following the initial submission of the Silverton Neighbourhood Plan there has been two public consultations.

The initial six-week consultation period ran between January 18 and March 3, 2023. A second consultation ran from July 17 until August 29.

The second consultation included previously submitted documents, with the inclusion of an environmental report.

The hearing will commence at 10am on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Community Hall, Silverton, EX5 4JZ.

Members of the public may attend the hearing, however, only specific persons, at the examiners discretion, may make oral representation.

Further updates regarding the examination of the Silverton Neighbourhood Plan, including in respect of the hearing, are available on the Council’s website: https://www.middevon.gov.uk/residents/planning-policy/neighbourhood-planning/silverton-neighbourhood-plan/ .

Should the examination be successful, the neighbourhood plan will be subject to a local referendum.

If there is a majority vote in favour, then the neighbourhood plan will come into force as part of the statutory development plan for the Silverton parish and be “made” (adopted) by the Council.
