PLANNING permission in principle is being sought for up to nine self-build homes in Morchard Bishop.
They would be located on the western edge of the village off Chulmleigh Road next to the GP surgery.
Since Mr S Jeffery of Morchard Bishop is only asking the council to allow development in principle, further permission would be needed later before the houses are built to decide what they would look like and other particulars.
Planning documents argue that because Mid Devon District Council cannot show the government it has at least five years’ worth of land for new homes, “permission should be granted unless the adverse impacts of doing so would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits”.
“It is suggested that any development would be linear, single dwellings aligned with the highway behind the existing hedge/bank boundary,” the documents add.
