PLANNING permission is being sought to convert a former barn attached to a Grade II listed house in Morchard Bishop into a one-bedroom holiday let.
The barn, which is connected to the early 19th-century Park House on Fore Street, is “curtilage listed”, i.e. it is legally protected by the same heritage rules as the main building.
Ms K Bray wants to repair the outside of the building, have new windows and doors made of “slim” aluminium “where possible”, and install solar panels on the roof.
Downstairs, the barn would have a bedroom, en-suite bathroom and utility room. Upstairs, it would have an open-plan kitchen, living and dining room.
“Currently, the barn is under-utilised and is falling into a state of disrepair,” planning documents say.
Permission to allow the barn to be used for residential purposes was previously granted in 2008.
