PLANS for five new four-bedroom homes south of Bow at a disused farm have been given the thumbs-up.

Two barns and a former farmhouse at Blue Violet can be knocked down to make way for the scheme, now that Mid Devon District Council has given Mr J Pearce of Cheriton Bishop the green light.

Mr Pearce already had permission to convert the barns under “Class Q” of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015, which allows the conversion of agricultural buildings into homes without the need for a full planning application.

Applying subsequently to demolish a barn and build a new home with Class Q permission for conversion in place is a planning strategy known as the “Class Q fallback” position.

Permission was also granted in 2010 and again in 2013 to replace the farmhouse, but construction was never completed.

You can see the application on Mid Devon District Council’s website under reference 25/01470/FULL.
