PLANS to turn a barn near Cheriton Fitzpaine into a two-bedroom home have been submitted for approval to Mid Devon District Council.

Mr J and Mrs L Acton want to convert the single-storey building off Mill Lane north-west of the village under “Class Q” of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) Order 2015, which allows the conversion of agricultural buildings into homes without the need for a full planning application.

The barn, which is roughly 17 years old and has been used for hay storage and during lambing season, would be extended by four metres at the rear over an existing area of hardstanding.

Inside, it would have an open-plan living/ dining area and kitchen, a wet room, and two bedrooms, one of which would have an en-suite bathroom.
