I AM writing this letter to appease my lovely son-in-law. He agrees that I should as I have had in mind to write such a letter for some time and now I have a good reason. I moved here more than five years ago when I was left all alone in a nice town, one whose council had money and so the place was always immaculate. I came to live near my daughter and her husband after all my friends had died. I must admit Crediton is nothing like my old town, in fact, I've always given it a derogatory name, except for one thing - the people who live here. They are all so nice and friendly. Every day I find people smile at me - total strangers and now I find people are honest too. Last week I lost a gold wedding ring, one which must have been at least 70 years old, as it belonged to my mother. This is the first winter I have had the need to wear gloves and must have pulled it off my finger with a glove. I had been to Ashton's Coffee Lounge first, then to two other shops. I retraced my steps and asked in the two shops if it had been found, but no, so finally I went to Ashton's with little hope that someone had found it and handed it in. When Steve said "yes it was found and handed in", I was over the moon! It seems the young lady who was helping there had found it under the chair I had been sitting on and gave it to Steve for safe keeping. When I got it home I had a good look at it and found through years it had lost its roundness and was really a poor thing, but for sentimental value, it means a lot to me. So, thank you once again to Ashton's Coffee Lounge. You are all lovely. Mrs M Robertson Crediton address supplied
