Public asked to vote for ‘Wild Life Matters’

THE public is being asked to vote for a local educational centre to help it achieve more funding.

Wild Life Matters in Eggesford Forest, at The Wembworthy Centre, near Eggesford, has been selected as one of three Mid Devon recipients of the Tesco “Bags of Help” scheme.

The money raised from the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores in England, Wales and Scotland is used to pay for a large number of local projects to improve green spaces in communities.

Projects that receive funding include building new pocket parks, sports facilities, woodland walks and community gardens.

“We are delighted to be a recipient of Tesco’s Bags of Help,” said Steve Keable of Wembworthy Centre. “Every vote will help increase the Award from £8,000 to £12,000 and for people to explore, discover and enjoy the Eggesford Forest woodlands of the Taw Valley.

“The Wembworthy Centre has been loved by generations of primary school children as a place of discovery.

“The grant funds will focus on our nature area and pond. This is our launch pad for forest story trails and routes of discovery into all the woodlands at Eggesford.

“Extra funds through in-store votes will be used to develop trails of curiosity and imagination, to promoting natural home building habitats for bees, bats and birds.”

Mr Keable explained that the public can help to increase the award between now and March 6, by in-store voting at the Crediton, Tiverton and Cullompton Tesco stores.
