TIVERTON angler Paul Thomas had a successful time at Creedy Lakes, near Crediton, topping his catches with a chunky 27 lbs 8oz common carp.

Paul fished mid way on the far bank at the lake and used the latest winter baits.

He cast into mid water and hooked seven good sized fish. He managed to tempt two other 20 pounders including a 22lbs common carp and a mirror carp scaling 21lbs.

His total bag weight amounted to 136lbs of fish which was a great achievement at this end of the season.

Crediton angler Mike Barlow recently banked five commons including a pair of 16's when he fished mid way on the boat house bank. Another local man, Simon Snell of Copplestone hooked two doubles, best scaling 15lbs.

Creedy Lakes closes for the season at 11pm on January 1, 2010.
