A DISABLED man who lives locally and whose hobby is to buy electric scooters to "do up" and give to other people this month made his second donation.

Paulaue Saulaue has been living in the Crediton area for eight years. He runs table top sales at Sandford Congregational Church Hall to raise funds for the PDSA and Starlight charities, the next will be on October 30.

Starlight is a charity that aims to grant wishes for seriously ill children and to provide stimulating programmes in hospital.

Anyone who would like to book a table can contact Paulaue through the Congregational Church.

He gave the scooter to a 67 years old Crediton lady who has had arthritis in her spine for 10 years. "I am on the strongest pain killers, I cannot walk very well and am so grateful to Paulaue for offering me this scooter," she said.

"It will help me to get out and about more, to visit the shops, the hairdresser and the doctor. Getting on and off buses is so difficult," she added.

Paulaue said he had heard this lady had mobility problems and so offered her the electric scooter. "I do not receive any donations towards buying the things I give to other people," said Paulaue. "This is the second scooter I have given away, I have had one stolen as well."

The handover was at one of the coffee mornings held at Crediton Congregational Church every Wednesday morning. Fully charged, the wheelchair will run for 25 miles.
