ALMOST three quarters of over-60s in Devon have claimed their free concessionary bus pass, new research shows.
Bus company Stagecoach SW, which commissioned the survey, is encouraging more people over 60 to apply for their free pass.
Survey respondents report that 57 per cent use the bus to visit friends and family, while the same number say it helps them avoid the hassle and cost of parking.
In addition, 39 per cent of those who responded to the survey said taking the bus gives them greater freedom, allowing residents to get out and about for shopping, appointments and leisure activities.
Peter Knight, managing director of bus company Stagecoach South West, said: “Free bus travel is making a real difference for older people across Devon.”
