A FASCINATING dive into the folklore traditions of Devon with the host of the hugely popular Folklore podcast, Dr Mark Norman and Devon folksong expert Jim Causley will take place on Saturday, April 25.
It will take place in Newton St Cyres Parish Hall (EX5 5BW) from 7pm and all are invited to attend.
Dr Mark Norman created the Folklore podcast and is a folklore researcher and author.
He is a committee member of the Folklore Society, which is the longest standing learned society for the study of folklore.
He is also the curator of The Folklore Library based in Crediton, and was commissioned by The National Trust to write “The Folklore Year”.

Jim Causley is a proud Devonian, awarding winning folk singer, songwriter and musician.
He has dedicated much of his career to researching and reviving the forgotten gems of songs from his native western peninsula.
His warm voice, deep knowledge of local heritage, and entertaining stage presence, have made him a leading figure in the UK’s folk scene and he is a celebrated ambassador for the songs and stories of the South West.
He has been described as “the finest singer of his generation” and has won BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, The Telegraph Top Ten Folk Album of the Year and Spiral Earth Awards Male Singer of the Year.
The evening will focus on all things relating to Devon Folklore and will include folk songs, legends and customs.
Go along to hear tales and songs that you may never have heard before.
Hot drinks and homemade cakes will be available to purchase, and those who go along are welcome to take their own alcoholic drinks.
