THERE was outrage at the actions of someone who fly-tipped various items in Crediton Parish Churchyard during the weekend or early today, Monday, November 4.

Under one of the two holly trees at the front of Crediton Parish Church (A377 side), close to graves and headstones, and the Royal British Legion Garden of Remembrance, are a number of items including a car battery, a tyre, length of cable, selection of metal and wood, lead that looks to have come from a roof, copper tube, a section of cast iron down-pipe, a cast iron hopper, two ancient radiators and a wheelbarrow.

A church spokesman said: “Obviously Holy Cross and its surrounding churchyard presents a huge upkeep and maintenance challenge and we can well do without incidents such as this.

“If anyone recognises the items or saw someone dumping them we would very much like to hear from them.

“We will be checking our CCTV systems and the churchyard wildlife camera traps in the hope they may have recorded the fly-tip.”

An appeal for anyone who witnessed the fly-tipping has also been issued.
