THE campaign to save Crediton Youth Centre from closure was discussed at a meeting of community groups, volunteers, councillors and young people who use the centre in the town last week. It was convened by Crediton Rural County Councillor Nick Way (Lib Dem), who opposed cuts to services at Devon County Council's recent budget meeting. Nick said: "The aim of the meeting was to discuss the appetite and opportunities in Crediton to look at youth provision in the light of the current threat to the service made by Devon County Council's Conservative administration in their county wide 'Tough Choices' programme. He added: "The Youth Centre in East Street is an important facility for many young people within the area and must not be lost. "It has provided a safe and productive environment for both the current group of users and for many other young people in the past. "Some ideas worth exploring are beginning to emerge."
