WHAT a strange Easter Sunday it was – I don’t think in 70 years have I missed going to church on this very special day.
However, I was able to join with more than 70 people to hear live and take part in the service from Crediton Methodist Church.
The "attendance’" each week is growing.
The service was led by our Minister, Rev Ann Varker with other people taking part with readings and, for the Palm Sunday service, there was a drama by five members of the church.
Each week Ann sets a challenge for families – the first was to build a lighthouse, secondly a representation of the Palm Sunday story and for Easter Day it was an Easter garden.
Each week pictures are shown of the various activities with an opportunity for the children to talk about how they made it and what it means to them.
The latest challenge Ann set for the families was to keep a lockdown diary and at the end of each day to put three things that they had enjoyed and to say thank you for and also to put in one thing that had been difficult and which they would ask God for help with.
At the service on Sunday, April 19, one young person said he had enjoyed playing board games especially the Exeter version of Monopoly.
His brother had enjoyed making a pasta dish and showed a photo of it. A brother and sister had enjoyed a long cycle ride and also a video link with a school friend.
As well as 70 plus people watching live on the web either through their computer, tablet, smart phones, and listening via their land line, there have been more than 300 clicks each week to view the service at a later date.
On April 19 there was one person joining live from Bratislava in Slovakia.
On Good Friday Christians Together in Crediton were able to take part in a Virtual Walk of Witness as church leaders from around the town prepared a recording to be viewed via our church website. This recording received more than 1,000 clicks on the website during the Easter weekend.
Rev Ann Varker issued a challenge for the young people to make bread in the coming week ready for a Methodist Love Feast on Sunday, April 26, when the congregation will be asked to join in sharing food and drink as part of the fellowship of the Church.
If you would like to listen live to Sunday morning services at 10.30am please contact the church AV team using the email: [email protected] or telephone 01363 777308. Individual help will be given to work out how you can best access the worship.
